Golf Overview

Set among San Diego's gentle, rolling foothills, Barona Creek Golf Club blends beautifully with the natural vegetation and gives the impression of a wildscape barely tamed. This perception was celebrated and encouraged by Barona Band of Mission Indians. Together with course architect Gary Roger Baird of Gary Roger Baird Design International, with Todd Eckenrode as project architect, they set out to create a challenging championship venue that would embrace the generous spirit of their native lands.

Five sets of tees ensure that players of all abilities discover a course that suits their desired level of play. The championship layout from the Black Tees boasts a course rating of 74.5 and 139 slope which has already challenged the world's best, and earned Barona Creek a ranking as one of the top golf courses in Californa, alongside Pebble Beach, Spyglass, and Pasatiempo.

The natural elegance of the Barona Creek Golf Club, with its gentle flowing creeks, hardy California oaks, and native sods and grasses, lends it a simple charm and rustic beauty, but it's the distinctive design that elevates the prestigious course to championship caliber. Over 100 bunkers and strategically placed natural obstacles, including an oak that splits the first fairway, contribute to a challenging championship course. The innovative architecture is matched by the unparalleled sophistication of the club's equipment: Every Barona Creek Golf Club cart features the modern convenience of an uplink GPS system, which enables players to determine the exact distance between their ball and the pin by positioning their GPS-outfitted cart at the ball's location. We're sure our golfers will find this remarkable tool not only advantageous, but indispensable.

The Barona Creek Golf Club features five individual tees to accommodate varying skill levels. Experienced players will enjoy the complexities of the Black tees, which offer 7,088 yards of open terrain with a slope of 139 and a rating of 74.5. Our most challenging set of tees, they're recommended for the professional or highly skilled amateur player with a handicap of 9 or less.



The greens on our Gold tees are only slightly shorter, with total yardage measuring 6,596. A comfortable challenge for most men golfers, they feature a slope of 133 and a rating of 72.1. A favorite among senior men, the Silver tees are intended for players with intermediate to advanced skill levels. Rated at 70.4, with a slope of 129, they incorporate 6,321 yards of open greens surrounded by tall grasses, unforgiving boulders, and deceptively treacherous water hazards.

Our Teal and Burgundy tees are open and inviting, offering players a relaxed pace, minimal changes in elevation, and total course yardage well under 6,000 yards. The Teal tees boast 5,813 yards at a 130 slope and a rating of 73.8, and are recommended for the serious woman player with a single digit handicap. The majority of women players will find the Burgundy tees provide the most enjoyable Barona Creek Golf Club experience. With 5,296 yards rated at 70.6, with a slope of 126, they are both challenging and forgiving, and encourage a leisurely pace.
