Grand Bear has hosted Shell's Wonderful World of Golf (2000), featuring a match between Jesper Parnevik and Paul Azinger. John Daly's Make a Wish Tournament also was held here in 2004. The Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) Division of Tourism has announced that five public-access golf courses have been named best-in-state by Golfweek magazine in its 11th annual “America’s Best” course rankings.
